We Will Remember Them

Our Spring Concert, “We Will Remember Them”, held at St John & All Saints’ Church, Church Hill, Easingwold on Saturday 10 May 2014 was well attended and lived up to its promise of being an evening of evocative music, a fitting tribute to all who lost their lives or served their country during times of war.

Many thanks to our audience who supported us, to all who participated, especially Sarah Reece, our Musical Director who guided the choir through a technically challenging programme and of course, our guest musicians, William Dore - Assistant Director of Music and Abbey Organist at Ampleforth Abbey, The Abbey String Quartet, Francesca Banks – soprano, Rachel Gray - cello and Ben Messenger - snare drum, all of whom added the finishing touches making the performance an outstanding success.

In keeping with theme of the evening, Mrs Boddison, the wife of one of our members, kindly put on a splendid display of authentic World War I memorabilia and we are grateful to the church for allowing us to perform our concert and set up the display in such beautiful surroundings.

A raffle was held and the Choir was delighted to share the proceeds with the local branch of the British Legion who kindly provided choir members with the very striking poppies for the evening.
